The French company, Seabubbles has created this water taxi a new way to commute. It floats above the water and produces zero emissions and is being currently tested in Paris. The taxi rises up off the water once it hits 7.5 Mph offering a silent and smooth ride. And since the taxi glides through the water without causing waves, it avoids bobbing motions and can prevent motion sickness in passengers. The water taxi’s propulsion system is based on Naval Hydraulic and Hydrodynamic designs. Foils affixed to the hulls of the taxi reduce the amount of drag allowing it to reach the speeds of 14 knots. Seabubbles faces regulatory challenges in convincing officials to allow operations on public waterways. The company hopes to launch in 50 cities within the next five years.
